How Do You Write An Autobiography For Another Person? Good Question! You Ask Questions And Listen

Image
I am a very creative person, but I never met a problematic assignment that requires you to produce an autobiography out of interviews! Many interviews. Afterwards, you rewrite and/or rephrase those interviews into a monologue so that it appears that someone, the person who commissioned you to do the writing, becomes the source of those words, becomes the author. A commissioned autobiography. (top imag e from in2english.net , bottom image from blog. reedsy.com ) Turning into an autobiography a monologue or somebody else’s story told live to somebody else (like you) – they don’t teach that is any writing class, amateur or master. You’ll have to be very creative about it! Now, the question is, “How creative are you?” The problem is: How can you write someone else’s story so that it becomes “My story” when in fact you start with “Her story” or “His story”? You have to be creative. You have to forget yourself, really, and think like the would-be author of her/his autobiography. And th...

My Birthday Is Coming Up! My Gifts To The World Of Learning From Grade School To Grad School Come From Howard Gardner’s MI + 1

Repeat after me! I teacher cannot repeat enough – whoever you are: (1) As an individual, you are better off if you cultivate/are cultivating your individual talent or intelligence that you personally discovered within yourself – or somebody else noticed it and encouraged you. (2) As a parent, you should discover and encourage your children to develop their individual talents. (3) As a teacher, if you are quite astute, you should be able to discern the individual intelligences of your students.  (image from dreamstime.com ) What intelligence ? I quote Michele Marinus (“Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences,” Simply Pschology , simplypsychology.org ): Gardner defines intelligence as a “biopsychological potential to process information that can be activated in a cultural setting to solve problems or create products that are of value in a culture.” As according to Harvard psychology professor Howard Gardner, any of the following (to his list of 9, I added 1; here the...

My Birtthmonth Gift To Students From Grade School To Grad School – Creative Thinking

Image
Guess my birthday? Yes, during that date, a whole town celebrates – including holding a beauty contest and public parade, the works! How lucky can you get? That town has been doing that since I can remember. (On another angle: As a communicator for development, I am thinking of what gift can I give to PH Agriculture, especially to the millions of poor Filipino farmers?????) The best personal gift I can give to students from Grade School to Grad School is to recommend that they learn how to do their “Creative Thinking” – which I added to the 9 in Howard Gardner’s list of “Multiple Intelligences” (list below): (image from thehungryjpeg.com ) 1. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”) 2. Creative Intelligence (“Thinking Smart”), added by FAH 3. Existential Intelligence (“Life Smart”) 4. Interpersonal Intelligence (“People Smart”) 5. Intrapersonal Intelligence (“Self Smart”) 6. Mathematical-Logical Intelligence (“Number/Reasoning Smart”) 7. Musical Intelligence (“Mu...

Why Not From Grade School To Grad School Engaged In Teaching Multiple Intelligences To Their Students?!

Image
About Multiple Intelligences (MI), in 2021 I wrote about Cahbriba Alternative School, the MI school founded by Doc Cielito & Pilar Habito in Los Baños, Laguna in 1999. They got the genius idea from Harvard University itself, from psychology professor Howard Gardner . Aside from sending our children to Cahbriba ( Neenah, Edwin, Ela ), I helped raise Cahbriba funds by volunterring to package a proposal I called simply “Y2K” – it was catchy & dangerous as 1999 was the year when experts were predicting that the millineum bug “Y2K” would cause a digital world crash, destroying all wealth. Hah! The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded Cahbriba’s Y2K for PhP1 million. Thanks, CIDA! Here’s the MI list submitted to CIDA: 1. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”) 2. Creative Intelligence (“Thinking Smart”), added by FAH 3. Existential Intelligence (“Life Smart”) 4. Interpersonal Intelligence (“People Smart”) 5. Intrapersonal Intelligence (“Self...

mIQ. Multiple Intelligences: Why This New Blog Of Mine – Frank A Hilario

The now-accepted theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) by Harvard psychology professor Howard Gardner proposed in his book Frames Of Mind in 1983, some 4 decades ago, has not captivated the thinking of educational institutions , from Grade School to Grad School, anywhere in the world. We educators are to blame – we have not learned to be geniuses ourselves in teaching! 40 years and in the Philippines, we have yet to solve the poverty of millions (plural) of Filipino farmers! We have not been applying our intelligences (plural) – we have not learned to be much more intelligent in many more areas than what our school cards show. I’m not surprised – we have yet to appreciate the concept of MI. Here is proof: Based in the Philippines, the “Multiple Intelligence International School” (MIIS) says ( mischool.edu.ph ): “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics “In line with the school thrust of raising leaders who make a difference, the MIIS STEM program equips studen...
